• Proposed changes to Ohio's rules are located here. The main thrust of the proposed changes is to limit the solicitation of accident victims within 30 days of the accident. It also proposes an enclosure that be sent with all solicitations.

DR 2-101. PUBLICITY.

• No false, fraudulent, misleading, deceptive, self-laudatory, or unfair statements;
• Law firm must plan on representing the clients not referring the work out;
• No testimonials regarding the lawyer's capabilities;
• No unverifiable claims

• Must disclose how name was obtained;
• Must not "personalization" in the solicitation approach;
• Must not comment on the potential merits of the case;
• Includes in its text and on the envelope in which mailed, in red ink and in type no smaller than 10 point, the recital -"ADVERTISEMENT ONLY."
• For civil actions, a lawyer or law firm shall verify that the party has been served with notice of the action filed against that party;
• If the solicitation is for accident or disaster then a copy of "UNDERSTNDING YOUR RIGHTS" must be included in the soliciation

• OPINION 2002-6. Attorneys may contact appellant or appellee when notice of appeal is filed to convey an interest in serving as appellate counsel.
• OPINION 2005-9. Attorneys may not use discount coupons in soliciations.
